Is it Really Social Networking?

Today, we hear about Facebook, twitter and many other social networking websites. So, what does these sites mean? These social networking sites allow individual to present themselves by creating personal profile, to articulate their social network, to know about others and to maintain their relations with others even after being so far. A person can join virtual groups based on their personal interest and hobbies. Here they can write on their friend's wall, know about them, share their experience and search for other friends.

Now a days, these sites are attracting the interest of not only the youngsters but of the adults also. Spending 1-3 hours a day has become the schedule of an average person. These social networking sites has been like an addiction to its users.

According to a report, Facebook has close to 700 million users worldwide. The company, founded by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004, has been seen as one of the new titans of the internet.

But, is these social networking websites are useful for us, for youngsters who are the future of tomorrow, for the elders?

Do you think that these social networking websites really bring people closer or create gaps between the people who really does matter for them. Some concerns about these Social Networking Websites-
  • It can Decrees Performance
Researches conducted to get the effects of social networking websites proved that the children who use these SNS show lack of attention and regularities in comparison of those who don't use these SNS, which results in the performance degradation.
  • Psychological Effects
Researches conducted by psychologists shows that use of these SNS increase the feelings of jealousy. It makes them unhappy and stressful. An exposure of happiness and positive highlights of the peers has negative effect of the mind which indirectly creates gaps between them.
  • Decrees in Socialism
People just post the Birthday or Anniversary or any general message on the wall of their friends or family member. But just posting on the wall is one thing and being with them on any occasion or at the time when they need you is another thing. These sites are may be for social networking but actually these are depriving you of society and reducing the bonding between the families.
  • Can Get Insulted
People are so much habitual of these sites that they start using these sites at their working place also. But it may have negative effect on your reputation. Your boss can demote you or can fire you instead of giving a promotion.
  • Physical Effects
People use these SNS without respecting the time. They even don't think about their health and give a long sitting to chat with others. Sometimes people sit for the whole night. Is it OK? These all things are not appropriate for the health also. These actions have very bad effects on the health.
  • Unsafe
Its dangerous to show every thing to the others. Yes, there are security features prevent our information from those to whom we don't want to share. But, what about the hackers. There are many times when hackers hack the accounts of the people and conduct all those unsocial jobs about which the account holder never know.
  • Children loss their innocence
Researches shows that children who started using these SNS become mature before the time. They visited so many sites and networks which are not for children. Is this the future we want?


 
There are so many bad effects of these social networking websites, so can we assume that these sites really socialize the people and just making them sick. These sites are just like addiction and making the person addictive. So if we can't stop using these we should at least use these sites in limit. We should use it in a constructive way not like any necessity without which we can't live.
People from many countries like USA,UK, Canada has started to understand these bad effects that's why there was a news that Facebook has a big traffic drops in these countries. As the people of the origin country is dropping the use of Facebook so the people of other countries must understand these effects and should take an appropriate decision.
