Step 1
Create a new document by clicking ctrl+n or File> New, with the following setting.

Duplicate the text layer by clicking clrl+j or drag the text layer to the Create New Layer icon.

Select the original layer and go through Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical.

Hit the Add Vector Mask icon below the layer palette. Your original layer in layer palette will look like this.

Select the Gradient Tool and set black as foreground color and white as background color.

Drag your mouse from down to top like this.

With the new layer selected, select the Rectangular Marquee Tool and make a selection like this.

Select the Gradient tool and drag your mouse from above the text to just below the text.

Deselect the selection by clicking ctrl+d and your screen will look like this.
